I have to be honest. I laughed at your use of the phrase “Questionable ingredients” in commercial dog food. I feed my dog dog food and bones once a week, but now I am wondering if dried food is good enough. Could you please elaborate on the questionable ingredients that may be present in dried dog food? I chose it because it was more eco friendly at least so I thought I would love your answer

I’m glad the term “questionable ingredients” made you smile, but it’s indeed an important topic when it comes to the health of our pets.

Dry dog food can contain several ingredients that are not ideal for your dog’s long-term health. Here are a few examples:

Meat by-products: These ingredients can include parts of animals that are not suitable for human consumption, such as internal organs, bones, and skin.Artificial preservatives: BHA, BHT, and ethoxyquin are preservatives often used in dry dog food and are associated with various health issues.Artificial colors and flavors: These additives can cause allergic reactions and other health problems in dogs.Fillers: Ingredients such as corn husks and wheat straw add bulk to the food, but they do not provide nutritional value.

It’s important to carefully read the labels on food packaging and choose products with high-quality ingredients. If you’re concerned about the ecological aspect, look for food that uses sustainable protein sources and natural preservatives.
